Lewis Hamilton can now be considered one of the legends of Formula 1 racing, even though he will have to wait a few more years to leave the tracks. The British driver has won the British Grand Prix in Silverstone today, returning after two years to success and setting new records.
It was a remarkable victory for the Mercedes driver, who, starting from second place, managed to survive a strange race on his home track due to unstable atmospheric conditions and rain that brought quite a bit of chaos.
He took advantage at the second tire change to pass Lando Norris in front of him, while George Russell’s withdrawal with mechanical problems gave him first place. Thus, he won for the 9th time in his career this race, passing Mikael Shumaker as the driver with whom he shared the record for most victories at the same track.
So it was no coincidence that Hamilton crossed the finish line in tears, as he showed when he got out of the car to greet the mechanics. It was the 104th career success for the Briton, who continues to be significantly separated from all other chasers in this statistic.
Behind him was Max Verstappen, who managed to climb up the positions little by little and finally pass Norris, relegating the latter to third place on the podium. After them, Piastri, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Stroll, Alonso, Albon and Tsunoda were ranked, who completed the points area.
